Expanding Genetic Horizons

Stonyrun Genetics is based in southeastern Pennsylvania. The farm has been in the family for more than 110 years and is now operated by fourth and fifth generation farmers Loren and Mitchell Ruth. The farm has been home to three breeds of cattle (Holstein, Jersey, and currently Wagyu). We are committed to breeding high genetic merit cattle that are in demand world wide.

Stonyrun's genetics have been exported to various destinations around the world in the form of live cattle, embryos, and semen. One of our Jersey bulls was the top ranking Jersey sire in Australia for several years and is the all-time best selling Jersey sire in Australia, siring more than 35,000 progeny.

In 2007 Stonyrun acquired its first fullblood Wagyu. Based upon our prior experience breeding registered cattle we thoroughly researched the Wagyu breed to determine which bloodlines and maternal families have performed the best as breeding stock and for carcass performance. The foundation of our herd is based on the most superior bloodlines to have been exported from Japan resulting in high performing genetics that are focused on producing the world's finest quality beef, commonly referred to as Kobe beef. It is our goal at Stonyrun Genetics to provide Wagyu cattle that perform in the paddock, in the feedlot, and on the dinner plate. These genetics are available as either live cattle, pregnant recipients, embryos, or semen.



Stonyrun also direct markets elite Kobe-style Wagyu beef. We do not feed our cattle any growth stimulants, hormones, or antibiotics. Our cattle are finished according to the traditional Japanese feeding method of slower weight gain to insure maximum marbling, texture, and taste. The beef is processed at a USDA certified plant enabling our beef to be sold directly to consumers or restaurants.
